Full-bodied, concentrated and elegant

Silverboom Black Label is intense deep red in the glass with a dark, almost black hue. In its aroma you are met with a wealth of red and black berries such as blackcurrants, strawberries and blueberries. In the mouth the wine is experienced as full-bodied and concentrated with a classic Cabernet Sauvignon character. In its taste the fragrant notes make a return, with the blackcurrant dominating though beautifully supplemented by subtle tones of oak and a slightly spiced touch. Silverboom Black Label is the natural accompaniment to barbecued food, veal, lamb and a wide selection of cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16-18°C.

Vinification

The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for Silverboom Black Label are specially selected by the winemaker and harvested from well-drained wine fields where the soil is characterised by granite and shale, which gives the vines a hard surface to work in. This results in pliant stalks and thus more intensity in the grapes. The grapes are plucked in the early morning hours at the end of March and brought directly to the winery. Here, the grapes are lightly pressed before undergoing a 36 hour-long maceration. After maceration the wine is fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks before being allowed to rest in the tanks for 3 weeks. Once the wine has settled, it is gently aged in oak barrels, thereby achieving its high quality.

The producer

Silverboom is a high quality wine from South Africa. Over the past decades South Africa has undergone a massive change and the country is today able to supply an array of fantastic wines. One of the main reasons for this is the country's geographical location. In addition to skilled winemakers a good wine requires a number of factors: Sunshine, warmth, cold and good soil, all of which is present in South Africa. In recent years South Africa has also fostered a new and innovative generation of winemakers; people who have turned their attention towards the rest of the wine world and who seek inspiration from both Italy and France.

Silverboom is the result of highly skilled winemakers and a generous landscape. It is the best South Africa has to offer, with a good helping of European inspiration.
